Lately I’ve been really interested in the presence of a person when they are not physically in their space. Morning routines leave dishes in specific places. When I come home I look for clues to whether my roommates are around the building or if they’ve gone to class for the day. The clothing about the room that would suggest a struggle to find something to wear. Shower baskets are left in certain places after a recent shower. Books and folders are usually only left about the floor if someone has been stressing or were running late for class. There’s just so much you can learn about a person by just looking at what they have and where they leave it. I’ve found that photographs of my personal environments are more revealing and accurate than a photograph of my face ever could be.
How I haven’t been voted off the island yet due to my messy cave is beyond me.
